The first Classic Car Drive In Weekend takes place at Bicester Heritage on 18-20 September. It’s brought to you by the people who brought you the London Classic Car Show, and it promises to be the largest event of its type at the former RAF bomber base since lockdown.
The number of tickets will be capped at 10,000 for the weekend due to the size of Bicester Heritage. It’s the first time that London Classic Car Show organiser Brand Events and Bicester Heritage have collaborated on an event, and it’s another indication of the former’s ambition to become the UK’s classic car scene’s centre of excellence.
The Classic Car Drive In will be fully COVID-19 compliant, and to get in, you’ll have to pre-book online. There will be thorough social distancing requirements throughout, and the centrepiece of the event will be a drive-in cinema. And to show it’s a petrolhead-themed event, there will be afternoon and evening screenings of Senna, Rush, The Italian Job (1969), Days of Thunder and Gone In 60 Seconds (2000).
Cars, dealers and clubs on show at Bicester
It’s expected that morning and afternoon attendees will head into the exhibition itself, comprising 35 car clubs and a host of dealers, specialists and convoy demonstrations on Bicester’s test track. Evening showings, for the more casual event goer, will concentrate on the films only with the rest of the show cordoned off.
‘Grab and go’ lunch providers will be on site, direction markers will be provided and extra, regularly sanitised toilets will be available. All staff will also be fully kitted out in personal protective equipment (PPE). Bonhams MPH will run a sale during the Drive In Weekend with socially-distanced, crowd-limited viewings of cars inside one of Bicester Heritage’s hangars located on site.
