This week, we’re casting a watching eye over the delectable Renault 5 Turbo 2, which has undergone something of a value explosion in the past 15 years. Renault 5 Turbo 2 – The current situation
Collecting Cars sold a Clio V6 in its October 2020 sale for £59,000 – admittedly a Phase 1 with a little over 2000 miles on the clock, but still that’s a remarkable performance for this modern classic. But if its mid-engined ancestor is anything to go by, it could be in for some big price rises over the next decade.
That’s what happened with this rally-sired spinoff of the Renault 5, and while values bottomed out in the early 2000s at around £10,000-15,000 for decent examples, we’re now seeing similar Condition 2 cars selling for £50,000-55,000, with the very best examples making considerably more at auction.
Renault 5 Turbo 2 – impressive rises in value
We’re tracking Condition 2 examples here, and in this case, there are slim pickings due to rarity in the UK and as you can imagine, but when they do turn up at classic car auctions, Renault 5 Turbo 2s attract strong bidding.

A generation of clued-up classic fans who grew up watching the Turbo’s rallying exploits on TV are now buying and selling them, which has pushed values up with a huge leap between 2010 and 2015 as the market for rally-inspired homologation specials really heated up. We’ve seen similar price rises for Lancia’s Delta Integrale and Ford’s Sierra RS Cosworth, but there are far more would-be owners than there are surviving 5 Turbo 2s to satisfy the market.
