Every week, we’re tracking the values of the most popular classic cars on the UK market. Thanks to our friends at Classic Car Weekly, we can focus on one car and compare its values from 2005 to today – and then anticipate where they will be in 2025. This week, we’re homing in on James Bond’s favourite car, the Aston Martin DB5. Classic Car Weekly’s James Sadlier remains shaken and not stirred long enough to bring us the full story.
Aston Martin DB5 – The current situation
With just 300 Aston Martin DB5s on the road, it’s easy to see why values are still rising. The car is instantly recognisable, even for one who’s not a petrolhead. Since 2006’s Casino Royale, the DB5 has seen a new lease of life within the Bond franchise, with filmmakers cashing in on the nostalgia of previous movies. Bond actor Daniel Craig was again behind the wheel of the DB5 in Skyfall (2012) and Spectre (2015).
During the refreshed Craig era of Bond, values have soared by over £500k and much of that is down to its time on the big screen. But this car is genuinely good to drive too. The steering is light yet perfectly weighted, the suspension firm enough to hold a tight and flat line. It’s one of the best GTs on the market.
Aston Martin DB5 – consistent climber
Investment is the name of the game here with the model’s popularity showing no sign of decreasing. The big screen fame and rarity of the Aston DB5 will keep values rising. For those with a little less money, consider a DB4 or DB6. They are similar beasts, with the DB5 having a bigger-capacity engine and better brakes in the case of the DB4.
Below are the typical prices for a Condition 2 example between 2005-2025.
2005 £80,000
2010 £220,000
2015 £450,000
2020 £600,000
2025 £750,000 (anticipated)
